- A harness is recommended over a collar. This will allow you to safely walk your toy dog and prevent injury to the neck. If your Shih Tzu wears a costume on his leash, you can make a small hole in the harness clip.
- You might consider taking your Shih Tzu with you when you are going to be walking a lot or expect to be walking alongside children. Using something to carry them can be a good idea. This is especially important for dogs and puppies that are prone to feeling overwhelmed.
